About Mike

Mike of All Trades

My favorite thing is the realization of an idea: to trek the distance from daydream to rough sketch to finished product—a drawing, a novel, animation, logo design, a piece of music, or a piece of furniture

For 15 years I worked at a publishing company in Cincinnati, did color scanning, image-editing, and page design. I designed The Lookout, a 16-page weekly magazine, working primarily in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Responsible for design, installation of editing corrections, and export and upload of final digital files. Proud to say that we never missed a deadline.

In the past decade I’ve created and edited video using After Effects and Premiere Pro, with an emphasis on whimsical animation. I produced many branding videos for Hopwater and for Flavor Producers, and have made many video logo cards. In 2024, the first episodes of What’s That Smell? have been released, a collaboration with my good and great friend Tony Moore, in which we present life through the lens of flavor chemistry.

Under the moniker of Minute Moments Pictures, I produce the whole enchilada: idea, script, A/V script, storyboard, artwork, animation, sound creation, scoring and music production, editing—all the way to final delivery. View some samples here.

I’ve also worked as a copywriter, editor, and ghost writer. In 2018 I self-published my first novel, Ex Post Facto. At the time of this writing, I close in on completion of my forthcoming second novel, Yankee.

I recently illustrated my first picture book, The Book Bus (story by Melanie Moore, written by Brian Wray), published by Schiffer Books. Release date: February 28, 2024. This book has been one of the most rewarding and enriching projects I’ve ever undertaken.

I’ve built websites, made furniture and instruments, can cook up a mean samosa, love to play music with my friends, and facilitate a monthly guitar workshop here in Cincinnati.

In friendships, I am the wealthiest person I’ve ever met. I hope the same for you. Peace!
